Most other companies perform calibrations using a handheld clamp-on amp meter and standard voltmeter, taking readings at only one output setting while welding. At AL-ASAS for Oil Services, we utilize a resistance load bank specifically designed to test and calibrate welding machine output across the entire range.
This approach allows us to vary the load applied and access readings and output levels that cannot be attained while welding. This ensures accuracy from minimum to maximum output, covering all welding parameters (wire size, stick electrode size, etc.) and overcoming the instability of readings during actual welding. Machine outputs can be verified within 1 amp and 0.1 volt, guaranteeing precision throughout the entire range.
